What Makes a Great Article?
Article marketing can be a brilliant way of generating traffic to your opt in page or to your business in general. It can be a great way to start your list building efforts for next to no cost.
However you need to write them carefully and put some clear thought into them. A good article should entice the reader into wanting to know more about you and your products. It should demonstrate to them that you are an expert in your field and that you are someone who is worth finding out more about.
So – what makes a great article?
1. Great information
At the heart of a great article is the information contained within it and the research which has gone into writing it. You need to find out good information that people will truly find useful and know enough about it to ultimately appear as an authority source.
2. Clear, structured text
A great article will be easy to read. You should make use of bullet points and section headings so that it encourages people to read it and makes it easy for them to find the information – avoid masses of continuous text as this is a big turn off.
3. Interesting style
Whilst the core information is very important it is also essential that people actually enjoy reading it – after all an article should have entertainment value. A great way of injecting interest into your article is to tell personal stories or those of people whom you know which relates to the topic. This also adds credibility to your article because people can then see that you have actual experience of it.
4. A solid bio
At the end of your article is the place where you should be selling yourself. You want people to click through to your website or sign themselves up to your mailing list. Tell them a little about yourself and why you are experienced in the field. Don’t make it too ‘salesey’ – rather make it seem like you are someone who is passionate about it and enjoys writing on the subject.
